Algebraic Curves, the Brill and Noether Way (Universitext) de Eduardo Casas-Alvero

Descripción - Reseña del editor The book presents the central facts of the local, projective and intrinsic theories of complex algebraic plane curves, with complete proofs and starting from low-level prerequisites. It includes Puiseux series, branches, intersection multiplicity,  Bézout theorem, rational functions, Riemann-Roch theorem and rational maps. It is aimed at graduate and advanced undergraduate students, and also at anyone interested in algebraic curves or in an introduction to algebraic geometry via curves.  Biografía del autor Eduardo Casas Alvero is Emeritus Professor at the University of Barcelona since October 2018, where he has been since the early seventies. His main research interests are in algebraic geometry. Casas Alvero is the author of numerous publications including several other successful books, including the following: Analytic Projective Geometry (EMS Publishing House, 2014), Singularities of Plane Curves (London Mathematical Society Lecture Notes Series 279, Cambridge University Press 2000) and Enumerative Theory of conics after Halphen (Lecture Notes in Mathematics 1196, Springer 1986).

NOTES FOR MATH 282, GEOMETRY OF ALGEBRAIC CURVES ~ Curves can appear in the abstract and in projective space. An important part of understanding curves is how they vary in flat families. The differ-ence between ACGH volumes 1 and 2, is that 1 deals with a fixed curve and 2 deals with families of curves. To learn more on families of curves, look at Moduli of Curves.

A BRIEF INTRODUCTION TO ALGEBRAIC CURVES ~ on in Germany by his student M. Noether and by Brill. At the beginning of the eighties the theory of plane and space algebraic curves had already been developed with purely algebraic means. 3 As far as plane curves are concerned, the culminating point of that period is the paper [5] by Brill and Noether dating back to 1873, which summarized

ALGEBRAIC CURVES - Xah Lee ~ Although algebraic geometry is a highly developed and thriving field of mathe-matics, it is notoriously difficult for the beginner to make his way into the subject. There are several texts on an undergraduate level that give an excellent treatment of the classical theory of plane curves, but these do not prepare the student adequately

Algebraic Curves / SpringerLink ~ Actually, since elliptic curves are curves of genus one, one of our tasks will be to define the genus of a curve. As in Chapter I, we give references for those proofs that are not included. There are many books in which the reader will find more material on the subject of algebraic curves, for example[ 111 , Chapter IV], [ 133 ], [ 180 ], [ 243 ], [ 99 , Chapter 2 ], and [ 302 ].

Introduction to Algebraic Curves ~ Algebraic curves and compact Riemann surfaces comprise the most developed and arguably the most beautiful portion of algebraic geometry. However, the majority of books written on the subject discuss algebraic curves and compact Riemann surfaces separately, as parts of distinct general theories.

Geometry of Algebraic Curves - University of Chicago ~ Lecture 1 Geometry of Algebraic Curves notes x3 Basics Today, we shall set the notation and conventions. Algebraic curves is one of the oldest subjects in modern mathematics, as it was one of the rst things people did once they learned about polynomials. It has developed over time a multiplicity of language and symbols, and we will run through it.

Harris; Geometry of Algebraic Curves, Volume II, by Enrico Arbarello, Maurizio Cornalba, Phillip A. Griffiths; The theory of complex algebraic curves has a long and distinguished history that reached a summit at the end of the 19 th century with the Abel-Jacobi and Riemann-Roch theorems.

[PDF] Algebraic Curves Download Full – PDF Book Download ~ Therefore, many examples of algebraic curves are presented in the first chapters. In this way, the book begins as a primer on Riemann surfaces, with complex charts and meromorphic functions taking center stage. But the main examples come from projective curves, and slowly but surely the text moves toward the algebraic category.

Notes on Algebraic Curves - s u ~ Notes on Algebraic Curves F.Beukers 1 Introduction Algebraic curves have been studied since antiquity. We are all familiar with the circle, parabola and ellipse, which are examples of so-called conic sections. But also more involved curves were studied already by the ancient Greeks. We recall the conchoid of Nicomedes (180 BC) and the cissoid .

An introduction to algebraic curves / Arithmetic and Geometry Math Foundations 76 / N J Wildberger ~ This is a gentle introduction to curves and more specifically algebraic curves. We look at historical aspects of curves, going back to the ancient Greeks, then on the 17th century work of Descartes.

Algebraic curve - Wikipedia ~ In Euclidean geometry. An algebraic curve in the Euclidean plane is the set of the points whose coordinates are the solutions of a bivariate polynomial equation p(x, y) = 0.This equation is often called the implicit equation of the curve, in contrast to the curves that are the graph of a function defining explicitly y as a function of x.. With a curve given by such an implicit equation, the .

Geometry of Algebraic Curves - Volume I / Enrico Arbarello ~ In recent years there has been enormous activity in the theory of algebraic curves. Many long-standing problems have been solved using the general techniques developed in algebraic geometry during the 1950's and 1960's. Additionally, unexpected and deep connections between algebraic curves and
